A molecule is seen as consisting of a set of N fragments defined by

• theoretical understanding
• chemical intuition
• analysis of a training set of molecules

A chemical property is computed as

P is the property, e.g. molecular weight, tpsa, logp

Ci is the contribution (coefficient) of fragment i
